In the past, we updated our account picture and eventually the change trickled throughout, down to the icons. However, occasionally the update doesn’t occur and we have to force it.
This is a simple one.
- Go to settings page in Chrome browser (chrome://settings/people),
- turn off synchronisation,
- then turn it back on.
Sometimes, that alone works. If it doesn’t we’ve sometimes managed to force an update by:
- Deleting the cached icons
- Go to settings
- Select “Clear Browsing Data” (under “You and Google” in navigation menu > “Privacy and Security”)
- Delete “Cookies and Other Site Data” along with “Cached Images and Files”
- Signing out of Google account and then back in again
